Father's Day

FATHER’S DAY

Every Father’s Day is an opportunity for us to celebrate our fathers. For some of us, this can be a challenging day.

The name father can have a negative bent. Sometimes the way we feel about our earthly fathers can influence our expectations of Father God.

Although hard to recognize, our experiences may cause us to harbor underlying comparisons that limit our trust in God. Worse yet, these feelings could block our intimacy with God.

For me, accepting God as my loving Father made all the difference. I know Father God will never let me down or abandon me. Read the beautiful promises of Psalm 91 in my post Safe and Content.

From personal experience, let me assure you, you can work past these feelings. On Father’s Day, turn to God with all your heart. He can restore and fill you with all the acceptance and love you will ever need.

“So, my very dear friends, don’t get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.” James 1:16-18 The Message

1 Thessalonians 2:16 & 17, Living Bible: “May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting comfort and hope, which we don’t deserve, comfort your hearts with all comfort, and help you in every good thing you say and do.”
