HARMONY

In terms of music, harmony is a pleasing blend of chords. In Hebrew, harmony is rooted in the word Shalom, which includes the concepts of wholeness, completeness, soundness, health, safety and prosperity.

Is your life in harmony?

Is your life a pleasing blend of chords or something else? Does harmony take practice or acceptance?

Psalm 23 is a beautiful picture of life in harmony with God: “Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need! He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams, and gives me new strength. He helps me do what honors him the most. Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way. You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies. You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow! Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home.” Living Bible

Above all, as we grow in our relationship with God, we can reach a harmonious blend of practice and acceptance. Choose God’s ways, shalom.

James 3:5 & 6, The Message: “It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.”

Philippians 4:7, Living Bible: “If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.”
