Escape the Darkness

ESCAPE THE DARKNESS

Think of your mind as a series of rooms, some may be light and bright, others gray and gloomy. Escape the darkness of your mind with the Light of the World: Jesus!

There may be a room where you descend into darkness, tinged with the faint smell of mold and decay. Here you visit your secret sin, dust it off and reminisce, or try to battle it on your own one last time.

Throw open the windows of your mind and let the shafts of Christ’s light pierce the darkness. The more you read about Jesus, the more His light radiates into your mind and your heart. Clear out negativity and throw those secret sins onto the garbage heap where they belong, never to visit again.

Escape the darkness

If you feel the darkness trying to creep back in, open your Bible and expose it to the light that is Jesus Christ. It must flee, that is the nature of the relationship between darkness and light.

1 John 1:5-7, The Message: “This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is light, pure light; there’s not a trace of darkness in him. If we claim that we experience a shared life with him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we’re obviously lying through our teeth—we’re not living what we claim. But if we walk in the light, God himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God’s Son, purges all our sin.”

2 Corinthians 4:6, English Standard Version: “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
