Every day the world is at work desensitizing us with a barrage of suggestive and insulting language, vile images, and changing moral views. Have we damaged our heart health with hardness?
Check your heart health
Our stony hearts can sneak in unnoticed, revealed only by the pressure of fear or unpleasant circumstances. What are the warning signs of a hard heart? Harsh or hateful, indifferent or selfish, arrogant, short-tempered, insulting, unsatisfied, and unforgiving.
Life can be painful if we are trying to live with little chunks of a hardened heart. If we allow Him, God can free our hearts to beat with love.
Colossians 3:12 & 13, The Message: “So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.”
Ezekiel 36:26, New International Version: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (Or a heart of love.)
