GOD TWEETS

Parents teach us about life based on their own experience. God, our loving Father, offers us instructions. Proverbs are like God tweets!

Robert J. Morgan’s book, 100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know By Heart, describes Proverbs as God Tweets, short “heavenly rules for earthly living.”

We gain most wisdom from our own life experiences, by messing up and living through the consequences. Throughout Proverbs, God gives us practical advice on everyday situations, helping us miss the most agonizing mistakes.

Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (A. W. Tozer defined the fear of God not as terror, but as “astonished reverence.”)

This verse tells us that fools don’t just ignore wisdom and instruction, but they despise it. Fools don’t stop at not listening, they have to get mad about it. Wow, we don’t want to be that person!

Proverbs has 31 chapters, the perfect number to add to your daily reading schedule. Plug in to God’s tweet feed by reading one chapter every day of the month. A simple way to gain wisdom and avoid painful foolishness.

Try a bible App

I have to admit; I haven’t tried many Bible apps. When I found BibleGateway.com, and their app I use on my iPad, I didn’t look any further.

I am not a technically gifted person, so finding a site easy to navigate and user friendly is important to me. They offer a paid version, but the free one has satisfied me.

What I enjoy most is being able to compare several Bible translations at one time, and searching by book, verse, or keywords. Their site offers a verse of the day, devotionals, and ever-changing menu of study courses.

If you are looking for an easy way to read or study the Bible, or help figure out what translation of the Bible relates best to you, give BibleGateway a try.
