Clear the Brain Fog2

CLEAR THE BRAIN FOG | ILLUMINATION SERIES

I sit down to enjoy quiet time to read. After a while, I notice re-reading sentences, a warning sign: slow-moving wisps of brain fog have entered my mind.

Clouds build, and soon I am engulfed by dark, dense fog. Negative thoughts dart out like lightning bolts: Shouldn’t you be doing something useful with your time? You are here alone because no one cares about you. If you died, who would notice?

I close my eyes as fog suffocates my ability to see positive things in my past, present, or future. Because I’ve lost touch with God’s blessings and His promises, tears stain my face and I struggle to breathe out the name Jesus. A chill runs up my spine. The fog crystalizes like a million swirling snowflakes and dissipates.

Why does this happen? A physical dip in my blood sugar? Warning signs of depression? Spiritual warfare? It will take some work to find the source. In the meantime, if I am armed with the Name of Jesus and the power of God’s Word, I can clear the brain fog and episodes become less frequent. I can make self-care a priority and not ignore my physical and mental health. God’s strength is with me through it all.

Call on Jesus in your time of need. He is there for you.

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.

Psalms 36:5

Jesus said, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

John 14:27
