A Creative Life In Crafting

A creative life in crafting is more than just a way to relax or add fun to your day. An article in Newsweek explains all the benefits of engaging in arts and crafts activities. When I had my painting studio, I delighted in all the different reactions of someone tackling a blank canvas for the first time. Depending on your perspective, an empty canvas can be thrilling or intimidating.

“Life is a great big canvas; throw all the paint you can on it.”—Danny Kaye

One day, a four-year-old boy came in and said he wanted to paint a bunny. He asked if I could add the bunny because he only wanted to do the ‘painting part.’ He began filling in the bunny, but ended up laying paint all over the canvas. A lot of paint! I complimented his use of color and texture. His mom walked around to see what I was talking about. Wide-eyed, she exclaimed, “Where is your bunny?!” The boy happily replied, “Oh, he’s under there!”

Activity: Tackle a blank canvas, piece of paper, ball of yarn, piece of fabric, clump of clay, or block of wood with the confidence of a child!

There are so many activities out there. Keep exploring until you find one you love. Hobby Lobby has aisles and aisles full of ideas, supplies, and kits.
