Camp Out (or in)

Backyard or living room?

What is your favorite way to camp: out or in? Camping used to mean being in the great outdoors, sleeping on the ground, and roughing it. How about taking the fun elements of camping and enjoying them in your own backyard or even in your living room where you won’t have to worry about bugs or a bathroom!

You can pitch a tent in the backyard or your deck, getting creative with the use of sheets, blankets and pillows. Roast your hot dogs or s’mores from your fire pit. Just a little of imagination and you can have all the fun of camping without the uncomfortable parts. If it gets too cold, you can always seek the warmth of your cozy bed inside!

Too cold to camp out? try in!

If you build your camp inside, try making a “fire” out some sticks and twinkle lights. Use the sofa and its cushions as your tent support. Instead of s’mores from fire-roasted marshmallows, try making camp cones: take waffle cones and fill them with your favorite mix-ins, tiny marshmallows, mini peanut butter cups, caramel chips, chocolate chunks, nuts, teddy grahams, whatever you can imagine. Wrap the entire cone in foil and roast in the oven for a warm, melty treat! Add fun sounds of nature from an app or a sound machine.
