Labor Day

Celebrate the Fruits of Your Labor
(aka: a good excuse for a backyard BBQ!)

According to the Department of Labor website, “Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It makes up a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.” But admit it, when we hear Labor Day, we really hear an extra day off work and backyard BBQ! Can’t you just smell that delightful mix of swimming pool chlorine and grilling meat?

Don’t have a pool? You can get end-of-season deals on inflatable pools, or just break out the sprinklers. What kid (young or old) doesn’t love a good run through the sprinkler. I have also seen homemade slip and slides but I will confess, this looks a little risky to me! 😬.

The kids could decorate t-shirts with sharpies, maybe with pictures of their career wishes.

Heat the grill, have lots of your favorite beverages on hand, crank up your favorite summer jams, and load up a cooler full of popsicles! What a way to end the summer and look forward to cooler days!
